The “Keep Texas Wild Triathlon” will consist of two events, a Sprint Tri and a Mini-Sprint Tri. This USAT sanctioned event is being held at beautiful Lake Corpus Christi State Park in Mathis, Texas and is presented by the Corpus Christi Triathlon Club. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Colin’s Hope.

Swim MAY be wetsuit legal. If you have a wetsuit, you may wish to bring it with you to the event. A final decision on wetsuits will be made Saturday morning.
Packet Pickup:
Packet Pickup will be held on Friday, April 15, 2015 at Bay Area Bike & Tri from 12Noon to 6:00pm. Please make note of the end time for Packet Pickup: 6pm. Bay Area Bike & Tri is located at 6020 SPID, Corpus Christi, TX 78412. Bay Area Bike & Tri is located in the Gulfway Shopping Center at Airline and SPID.

Note: Arrive
early! It will take time to
get through the line at the park entrance, find a parking spot, walk your gear
to transition, etc. Have you race bib ready to show at the entrance for
free entry into the park.
Location: Lake Corpus Christi State Park, The park is
on Park Road 25 located 4 miles southwest of Mathis off of State Highway
359. It is 35 miles northwest of Corpus Christi.
Events:
Sprint Tri - 700 meter Swim, 12 mile Bike and 5K Run
Mini-Sprint Tri - 350 meter Swim, 5.5 mile Bike and 1.5 mile Run
Sprint Tri Relay - 700 meter Swim, 12 mile Bike and 5K Run. Minimum
relay team size is two (2) people. Maximum relay team size is three (3) people.
Relay teams may be all Male, all Female or Mixed (Male and Female).
The Mini-Sprint Tri is designed for those individuals who have limited
triathlon experience. The Mini-Sprint allows individuals to "Try a
Tri". If you have always wanted to do a Tri or are just starting out in
the sport, the Mini-Sprint is for you!
The Keep Texas Wild
race course can be challenging for new and experienced triathletes. The
swim is in deep open water with wave starts (many athletes swimming side by
side). The bike is an “open course” which means that although law
enforcement will be present, the roads will be open to regular vehicular
traffic. There are some small hills on the bike course. The run
course is hilly. Please do not attempt this race unless you are well
trained and prepared. Participants under the age of 15 years old will
only be admitted with pre-approval from the Race Director. The Race
Director has the right to deny a participant entry into the race if he feels it
would be unsafe to do so.

Sprint Tri Individual - Overall Male / Female and Overall Masters
Male / Female (40 and Up) plus 1st / 2nd / 3rd Male and Female for the
following age groups (19 & Under), (20-29), (30-39), (40-49), (50-59),
(60-69), (70+)
Mini-Sprint Tri Individual
- Overall Male / Female and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 and Up). No
age group awards for Mini-Sprint Tri
Sprint Tri Relay - 1st / 2nd / 3rd

Swim Course: (Water
Temperature MAY be lower than 78 degrees and wetsuit legal)
The swim will be held
in Lake Corpus Christi. It will be a wave starts on a clockwise triangle
shaped course. Athletes will enter the water by wave assignment and start
approximately 3 minutes apart. The Sprint swim is 2 LOOPS
and the Mini-sprint is 1 loop.
Bike Course:
The bike course starts
in the park and exits to the right on Park Road 25. The turn-around is on
Park Road 25 just before Highway 359. Once back at the park entrance,
Mini-Sprinters will turn left back into the park. Sprinters will proceed
past the entrance towards Mathis on FM 1068. The turn-around is on FM
1068 in Mathis. Once back at the park entrance, Sprinters will turn right
into the park. Bike support will be provided by Bay Area Bike & Tri.
The bike course will be marked with white signs that have blue
directional arrows.
Run Course:
The run course will be
on the roads located inside the State Park. The run course will be marked
with orange signs that have black directional arrow. The orange signs
will be mounted on top of orange traffic cones. The run course is an out
and back.
Transition:
Bike racking in
transition will be open (not assigned). Please remember that the bike
racks are designed for six (6) bicycles per rack. The Race Director will
re-open transition after the last person has started their run. An
announcement will be made when transition is open to retrieve your bike and
gear. If you have finished your race, please stay clear of transition to
allow all the athletes easy access to their transition area.

The State Park entry
fee is included in the registration fee for participants. Show your race
bib to the park entry attendant for “free” entry. Spectators will pay
a $5 per person entry fee. Entry for kids 12 and under is free.

One Day USAT Membership:
You MUST be covered by USAT supplemental insurance to participate in this
Triathlon Festival; NO Exceptions. You are covered by USAT insurance if you are
a member of USAT. If you are not a member of USAT, you must purchase a one day
membership to USAT. The one day membership for USAT is now $15 (increased from 2015) for Adults ages 18
and up and $12 for Youth ages 17 and under. If you are not a USAT member, you
can purchase your one day membership when you register for the event. You can
also purchase your one day membership at packet pickup. The registration fee
shown above for the event does not include the one day membership
for USAT or the cost of a USAT membership. The $16 fee or the $12 fee is
collected by event management on behalf of USAT.

Packet Pickup will be
held on Friday, April 15, 2015 at Bay Area Bike & Tri from 12Noon

Remember to bring your
USAT membership card to packet pickup if you are a member. If you do not have your USAT card with you at
packet pickup you will be required to purchase a one day USAT membership to
obtain your packet. All participants must bring some form of governmental ID
card to packet pickup.
Timing:
Athlete Guild will provide timing for the
Mini-Sprint and Sprint Triathlon. You will be issued a timing chip with a
velcro strap the morning of the event. You must wear your timing chip on your
Left ankle during the entire event. For relay teams, you will exchange the
timing chip in transition at the location where your bicycle is racked.
