The 2022 Ellie Biscuit 20 & 10-Mile Trail Trot, presented by Community Bank, will be taking place on Saturday, January 29, 2022, starting and finishing at the Pt Washington State Forest Eastern Lake trailhead, off of CR-395S. The 10-miler will consist of a single loop of the 10-mile course, with the 20-miler consisting of two laps of the 10-mile loop. Beginning in 2022, the Ellie Biscuit will also offer a 2-person relay option, with each person completing a 10-mile loop. Men's, Women's and Mixed categories for the relay. For those unfamiliar with the Pt Washington State Forest…to be sure, it’s Florida forest at its absolute finest! A truly beautiful course.
Please know that this is a relatively bare bones, no frills kind of run. For your registration fee, here’s what you’ll get: the official Ellie Biscuit race hoodie – which I promise will be cool; a finisher's award upon crossing the finish line of your respective course; a beautiful (and yes, challenging!) course with two fully-stocked aid stations (basically you’ll hit an aid station every 5 miles); and, lastly, a bowl or three of my award winning chili at the finish (…I think I won a chili cook-off once at work, so that suffices as “award winning” in my book). There will also be awards given to the men’s and women’s solo winner and runner up from each course, as well as to the winner and runner up from men's, women's, and mixed categories from the 20-mile relay. Aside from that? Camaraderie and community-building with other folks who also like to wake up early on a Saturday morning in late-January and run through large puddles of water and mud. It should be a fantastic time!
Want to do the relay but don't have a partner? Drop us a message and we'll try to find you one.
To reiterate, the race starts and finishes at Pt. Washington State Forest Eastern Lake Trailhead. If you put that mouthful into Google Maps, it'll take you right there. As a backup...once you make the turn from U.S. 98 onto CR-395S, proceed approximately one mile - the parking lot for the trailhead will be on the left. Just pull into the lot. If you pass the utility station on the left, that means that you literally just missed the turn into the parking lot. Turn around. If you find yourself in civilization, i.e. if you're seeing neighborhoods, the South Walton Fire Department Station, WaterColor Publix, etc., that means you REALLY went too far. Again, turn around and head back (north) toward U.S. 98. This time the utility station will be ON YOUR RIGHT...the parking lot is literally just past the utility station on the right. If the parking lot is full, just park in the adjacent grass to the north of the parking lot. Please pull straight in (i.e. you should be perpendicular to 395S) and please DON'T block the multi-purpose path.
10% of the gross proceeds from registration will be going to 30A Trails, a local 501(c)(3) that is on a mission to meaningfully connect people with trails to engage their physical and spiritual lives, while promoting and preserving each trails’ natural character and beauty.
